CLIENT ADVOCACY

What is Client Advocacy?

Client advocacy services are those which fall outside of the scope of direct 1:1 therapy; but are an important part of the therapeutic process. For example, many children with disabilities will require accommodations at school to maximize their potential. Client advocacy services may include a qualified professional attending ARD/504 meetings to suggest specific accommodations, or to encourage school staff to provide certain services to the student, or follow prescribed protocols.

Advocacy services are not limited to children; they may include but are not limited to: assisting teens and adults with on-the-job training, seeking accommodations, encouraging adherence amongst employers and service providers to protected legal rights, and securing additional services (such as finding appropriate ABA companies, therapists, speech pathologists, OTs, PTs, etc).

Who Benefits From Client Advocacy?

-children with disabilities

-teens with disabilities

-adults with disabilities
