Behavior Experts of Texas; 501c3, is planning to open a private elementary school (prek-5th grade) for children with behavioral needs, who are underserved in typical school settings (public or private). This elementary school will challenge students academically, while supporting them behaviorally and socially via use of individualized curriculum, behavior analysis principles embedded into each school day, small student-to-teacher ratios, and inclusion of additional as needed services (e.g., reading specialists, advocacy, etc.).
“Astra” is Latin for “to the stars”; we believe that any child can reach the stars given adequate support during their early education. At Astra Academy, we aim to provide each student with the necessary support and skills to one day successfully transition to mainstream education settings and beyond.
Astra Academy will enroll students between the ages of 3 and 13, with developmental and learning disabilities or related behavior disorders. Such diagnoses may include but are not limited to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), etc. To maintain safety of our students and staff, we will only enroll fully immunized children into this program.
Astra Academy will provide a private education that caters to each student’s individual needs by offering small classes with low student-to-teacher ratios, individualized educational plans and personalized tutoring that results in 100% mastery of each lesson for each student. In addition, therapeutic support will be offered by behavior analysts, and other specialized providers on an as-needed basis per student.
We are currently raising funds to open Astra Academy. The sooner we reach our fundraising goal; the sooner we can open. You can help us achieve this goal by donating down below.
